The Green Ring

A path through the heights around Lech

homepage

The themed trail “The Green Ring” begins high above Lech and leads in several stages through the mountain landscape around the Arlberg. Since its opening in 2010, it has connected paths, viewpoints and stations between Lech, Zürs and the surrounding heights.

In Zürs, the Seekopf cable car takes guests up into the mountains even in summer. Within just a few minutes, it brings you to the starting point of the second stage. From there, the trail begins between rocks, meadows and wide views across the high alpine landscape.

As part of the Lech Card, the Seekopf cable car can be used daily — except Mondays — from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. This makes access to this stage of the Green Ring especially easy. The trail begins right at the mountain station.

From the mountain station onward

The journey starts here.

From the mountain station of the Seekopf cable car, several stations of the Green Ring can be reached without long ascents.

Not far away lies Lake Zürs. Its emerald-green water rests quietly between the slopes, with a wooden walkway leading out over the surface and inviting you to walk around the lake. From one side, the view opens towards Lech; from the other, across the alpine surroundings of Zürs.

The path continues through the Madloch. The landscape becomes more rugged, shaped by rocks and wide scree fields. Traces of a former glacier are still visible here, having formed this high alpine terrain.

At the Madlochjoch, the trail reaches its highest point. A summit book stands beside the path, along with a small post box. Some pause here, write a few lines or send a postcard down into the valley.

A little further on, at the Stierlochjoch, you encounter the giant. The figure stands quietly by the trail and is part of the stories of the Green Ring, told in the book “A Samurai at Kriegerhorn.”

Not far from the mountain station, the Seekopf restaurant awaits. In summer, hikers stop here and sit with views of the surrounding mountains.

Those who wish to experience summer at the Arlberg actively will find countless possibilities here — between mountains, trails and viewpoints. Goldener Berg is the ideal starting point for your own journey of discovery.
