Skyspace Lech on Arlberg

Experience the relationship between sky and earth

Skyspace Lech by the internationally renowned artist James Turrell is a work of art that invites you to enjoy a unique experience of light and space. James Turrell has developed a light room for Lech in which you can experience a new perspective on the relationship between sky and earth in high Alpine scenery.

James Turrell – The light artist

James Turrell is one of the most significant artists of the present day. His atmospheric installations are all about the sensual and spiritual perception of light. His light rooms are gentle compositions that offer visitors experiences that are both visual and emotional. Skyspace-Lech portrays these ideas. The combination of building, landscape, culture, nature, both existing and man-made is the basis for intensive personal experiences and observations.

»We don’t realise that we ourselves are the ones that give the sky its colour.«

- James Turrell
